I'm wondering how to and if its possible to get 64 bit vista on my new m1530? I've heard I can use the same 32 bit license for the 64 bit home premium edition, I just need a 64 bit install disk. Is this true? Also, what drivers would I need to find so that the laptop will work correctly after the upgrade?

Just call up dell and tell them to ship it with the 64 bit edition if you didn't get it yet.

You might be able to still talk them into it. I mean, I just called them yesterday because I wanted to reformat my parents 3 year old Inspiron 6000. That series of laptops didn't come with the windows disk though. So all I did was call them up, say I wanted Windows XP Media Center Edition for that laptop and after a little bit of searching they sent it out to me free of charge. So they might let you swap copies with them or something its worth a try.

Or you can always find a iso on the internet of 64 bit vista, if you know how to do torrents.

I do know how to do torrents, this is no problem. I was just asking to confirm that my product key will work with the 64 bit install and confirm what drivers I will need to find before switching.

yes, ur product key would work in the 64bit version of the same Vista (eg home premium x86, must install as home premium x64 for key to work)

search this forum.... theres a m1530 64 drivers thread

You can transfer CD key from Home premium x86 to Ultimate x64. There is a link on here showing you how to do it. It works and have been using M1330 with Ultimate x64 since M1330 was released.

Oh, really? Can you post the link here because there're so many threads about Vista key.
