hi this guide may be more useful to some more than others but just thought id share how i got my intel widi to work on my dell l502x after near tearing my hair out for months over it :)

    1. first you want to go to the intel website and download the latest windows 7 drivers for your wireless card which will be 15.3.1

2.after that has downloaded you want to go to programs and features and remove all intel wireless and bluetooth programs

3.make sure in your device manager you have the microsoft driver installed only for your intel wireless card

4.restart your computer and proceed to install the windows 7 drivers 15.3.1 they work fine on windows 8

5.next install your intel widi 3.5.40 software now you will have no errors during installation and your device will connect as it should

hope this helps atleast a few people out there as i know i missed this feature alot :)
