Hey everyone. I'm currently in the process of buying a XPS M1330 laptop. The led screen looks pretty sweet, but I don't want to pay an extra $100 for it if I don't have to.

Does the LED have glare? How about the standard display?

    Thanks.

Any glare you might experience would come from the glossy finish the two screens have in common and shouldn't depend on the backlight, I would guess.

Both displays are glossy, so there will be some reflections. Having an LED backlit display gives you a brighter, and more even light, along with better color reproduction.

Yes keep in mind that the screens in both the LED version and the non-LED version may be the exact same models only the back lighting differs between LED and CCFL.

Thanks. I'll probably go with the standard display then.

The main advantages to the LED screen are increased brightness, slightly (and I mean marginal) battery life improvments, increased screen life, slimmer form factor, and better color reproduction (although this has been contested). For a 100 dollars, I think you should go for it. You can cut your costs by reducing the stock RAM purchased from Dell. I would only order your system with 1GB (you should call a sales rep if the online configurator doesn't allow you to do this). When you get your system, you can replace the RAM with crucial or corsair RAM for very cheap (about 50 to 60 dollars for 4 gigs)
