I just got my replacement laptop after my first m1530 was warped and the battery casing was cracked. However, the screens don't seem to look exactly the same. I'm just wondering if there is some way to confirm that the screen is an LED in the replacement, as ordered?

    Thanks

i believe the thickness of the LED screens is also supposed to be thinner than a CCFL. and i dont know if this changed, but didnt the LED screens only come with a 0.3MP camera instead of the 2.0 in the CCFL?

    That's only on the M1330.
With the M1530, the lid is the same thickness with both LED and CCFL screens, and both have the 2.0 webcam.

If you can't tell by looking at the screen itself, check the Hardware ID of the monitor in Device Manager.
Device Manager --> click the + next to Monitors in the list -->
double-click Generic PnP Monitor --> Details tab -->
click the dropdown box and choose Hardware Ids.
Under where it says Value, you should see the Hardware ID displayed.
You look that up to see if it's an LED type or not.

    Do like Chelet said.

The hardware ID should match the red bold text below.

    1440x900 - WXGA+ LED
    CHI MEI OPTOELECTRONICS CMO15555 - Dell P/N: FX313

Not quite sure this is 100% true. I do know this, the front bezel and webcam are indeed different for CCFL M1530's compared to LED M1530's.

How do I know? Long story short, but I got a new front bezel (which I didn't need), and new webcam (which I did need) for my CCFL M1530. Last night when I installed the webcam, I decided to replace the Bezel (might as well, as it is new right?). Well it did not fit correctly. The top of the bezel was not as wide as my stock one. So I could see the metal at the top on my screen. Also, the stock webcam gets in the way. So while it would snap all around no problem, the top/middle where the webcam is, it would not snap. Only reason I could tell, is that there are two little nibs of plastic there, that my stock Bezel does not have.

So, I look at the packing slip for the new bezel. And sure enough, it is listed as "LED Bezel". With a different part # compared to mine.

So for anyone that may have been thinking a CFFL to LED upgrade on the M1530, might want to do some more research etc....
