I read somewhere on these forums that someone with an 8400m gs in their m1530 could upgrade to an 8600m gt if they so wished by sending it into dell.
I was just wondering if it would be possible to upgrade to a 9 series gpu in the future if dell started using the cards in an equivelant-type laptop. With the recent trouble with the 8600m gt i was hoping that if mine fails sometime down the road it wont just get replaced with another one.
Anyone have any information regarding this?
thanks.

Well even if u did send it back to DELL, I m 100% sure they would offer u a new replacement with 8600GT(like if u complained about poor graphics with 8400gs!)
But DELL will not/cannot approve a graphics chip upgrade!
Besides last I heard DELL does not use MXM module so they arent upgradable at all. -
I doubt it...
Seen as though its a 8400M to a 8600M which ae both supplied on the M1530, The upgrade is done via a motherborad upgrade that has the 8600M GT GPU soldered on.
As our M1530 don't come with MXM GPUs, We sadly can not upgrade beyond a 8600M GT unless Dell supplys it. If thats the case its the same case as the 8400M GT to the 8600M GT.
Hope this helps!!
graphics card upgrade for m1530 in the future?
