im trying to upgrade my laptops hard drive but the screws are really tight
i wanted to use some wd-40 to loosen them up, you guys think its safe?![]()

No, I don't think that is a good idea. You should not need WD-40 to loosen laptop screws. You are probably using a philips screwdriver that has either too small of a tip or too small of a handle. Try a larger screwdriver. I will try to find my laptop screwdriver and see what tip size it has.

VERY GENTLY place the phillips in the hole and use another screw driver to GENTLY tap the one ijn the slot this should loosen it up for you. be be gentle and not to hard with it. other wise try a better quality screw driver

The easiest thing to do is to pick up a set a small Philips screwdrivers. Notesbooks usually have small sizes such as 0 or 00. It's only a few bucks and it worth it to save you from stripping your screws.

I find the ace hardware 4 in 1 works great for all computers. One side is perfect for laptops and the other is perfect for desktops. The shaft is long and the handle is large which equates to lots of torque which makes them easily come out without stripping. If its not coming out easily then you are using the wrong tool.

lol didn't need wd-40 -
It hope this doesn't come too late, when you put the screws back make sure you don't screw them too tight.
