Gaming used to run at full speed when running on battery. I've updated 8600m gt drivers to latest on dell website - 9/3/2/2008 and updated all VIsta patches. And now games lose a lot of fps when playing on battery. It seems as if the system refuses to come out of power save mode when gaming on battery.

I have system restored and am running on "High Performance" when in battery mode but nothing fixes the performance loss. Tips and thoughts are very accepted.

    Thanks,
    teslas

The problem is a nifty nVIDIA feature called PowerMizer that saves battery life. What you need is the PowerMizer Switch. Run it, click Maximum Performance on Battery, quit, and restart. Now you'll have full power on battery!

I use this program myself; quite handy. The other two possible options are manually changing the registry that this program changes for you, or overclocking 2D mode to 3D mode levels (since what PowerMizer actually does is force the card to stay in 2D mode the whole time you're on battery).

Thanks Apollo13, THis worked out perfectly! Does Powermizer Switch allow the GPU to slow down during non heavy processor useage? Or does it just keep everything at max speed all the time?
