The screen on my 15z is cracked and unusable, I've been using an external monitor while waiting for the replacement to arrive.

A while ago I put an SSD into this laptop and out of laziness I switched to IDE mode in BIOS instead of setting up AHCI drivers in Windows.

I accidentally reset my CMOS today, and now I can't boot into windows anymore because the BIOS is set to AHCI mode and the laptop goes into a reboot loop.

Could someone describe the steps required to set the BIOS to IDE mode? I can't see the BIOS on my external monitor so I need "blind" instructions for setting IDE mode and saving changes in BIOS.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

To change the SATA operation settings in BIOS you may follow the below mentioned steps.

    • Press F12 and boot to BIOS.
    • By default the BIOS page will be in the ‘Main’ menu.
    • Press the right arrow key once so that the ‘Advanced’ menu will be selected.
    • You may press the down arrow key 7 times as SATA operation is seventh from the top.
    • Press ‘Enter’ to open the choice menu, since you have the AHCI selected now, you may press the Up arrow key once to select the IDE.
    • Press Enter key once again and then press the F10 to save and exit the BIOS.

Just in case you want load the default settings in BIOS, you may press the F9 key.

I hope this helps. Please do write back in case you have any other questions.

    Thanks and regards,
