Are these issues common with the m1330?
I just purchased mines recently and its supposed to ship on the 26th.
As a side note:
what should I do first when I get my m1330.
I know I will have to add more ram (i bought 1 gb), is it ok to turn on the laptop to see how everything is before adding the ram?
I hear a lot about formatting the hd. I don't really want to do this b/c I would have to reinstall everything but what is its main purpose. would it really help?
Thanks guys

reinstalling/formatting just eliminates the bloatware...and can speed up your vista system. If you are a beginner i wouldnt recommand it as it could get messy if you are not careful, but that aside if you follow a proper guide PROPERLY you should have no problems afterwards.
Check the notebook before adding the ram...if it has flaws ring up dell and do an exchange so that you know you bought a laptop that will satisfy you.
Also be careful when adding the ram, as a small shock will kill your ram stick instantly, just remember to 'discharge' yourself before touching the ram stick -
Not as common anymore.
The build quality is a lot better now.
Although, I have to say, the teeth showing at the top of the screen is still a problem. 2/2 of my m1330s had the gap. -
My 1330 seems to be flawless. Excellent build. No CPU whine. No gaps or teeth showing. LED screen is beautiful. I've always been lucky with the Dell's I've owned.

well. I hope I"m as lucky as you get Thompssj
BTW, Thanks acorn for your advice. I don't think i'll be making a fresh install. How much bloatware is there?
Also, thanks for your honest tip about shorting out the RAM. I have experience in that situation though, I just made my first pc last december.
how common is this for the m1330
