I'm trying to assess if it's normal for my xps 16's cpu fan to kick on and stay on for very long periods of time. When my cpu reaches about 45degrees C my fan kicks on and stays on indefinitely, even when the cpu temp has gone down to and remained at 38 for a long time. Only when I unplug the computer from the mains and hold it up in the air to promote circulation it reaches 34 degrees and only THEN does it kick off.
Is this how it is like for everyone else? Or is mine configured wrong?
I can't adjust the fan speed with speedfan. Has anyone had sucess using
i8kfangui to control the fan speed? It says it doesn't support the xps 16 so I'm worried it might damage my system.
