Hi; I have a big problem and I apreciate your help.
I have a Dell inspiron 3800; recently I when I opened my laptop I see a message that says:

Windows no se ha podido iniciar. El siguiente archivo falta o está dañado \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

It ask me to introduce the CD-Rom original; but I buy this laptop 5 years ago with all the papers but without this CD; what can I do in this situation? Also I'm not sure what version was instaled on the laptop.
Can I enter again at least to recover all my dates?
I tried also to to see if I could reinstall the system with a Windows XP that I installed on my PC, but I receive always the same message.

call dell and ask for a recovery disc. Also, you should be able to repair the current installation with those discs

Thx; but I reinstaled another Windows xp version and it works, I mean, it permited me install it; but, normally, I cannot see the information that I have yet in my laptop; in exchange, I can see some old programs that I installed with the first windows version and also the folder with the older Windows Xp; but none of my documents; now, can I use this situation - seing both of Windows folders - to make some modification to the oldest one, to can recover my old documents?

    Thanks

Where did you have your previous documents stored? Your My Documents folder should still be intact, you will just have to find it under Documents and Settings
