    and make it STAY off.
    on an XPS 15.
I found the answer to how to turn it off (windows mobility center and/or F6), but every time I turn off or hibernate the computer, the backlight turns back on. RAWR!

This is a system replacement for my old m1530, which didn't even have an option of backlit keyboard, so I'm not really sure why they gave me the backlight, but it drives me nuts 95% of the time, so I'd just like to turn it off and have it stay off. :)

C:/program files/dell/quickset --> BackLitKB.exe and then turn it off from there. That should do the trick.

It shouldn't come back. Pressing F6 TWICE should take care of it.

[If you press F6 ONCE, it deems out the BL, but not totally switches it off]

Not true, when I turn mine off using F6 it automatically turns on again after reboot. Bit weird. =S

yeah, what fungied.cheese said. That's the whole problem. I shouldn't have to hit F6 twice everytime I startup or return from hibernation.

will have to see what happens after I restart after changing C:/program files/dell/quickset --> BackLitKB.exe

Strange! Mine never turned on after I switched off the BL by pressing F6 twice.
