Hello I am trying to decide between purchasing an M1530 and a Vostro 1700. I like the idea of the Vostro because it has a 17 inch screen and I wont be moving it around too much - I understand it is quite heavy.

I was wondering how well the Vostro stacked up against the M1530 performance wise. Another concern of mine is stability as i purchased an Inspiron a couple of years back which died one year after purchase from screen failure - would it be worth getting Dell's extended warranty package?.

I am also based in the UK - any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks

hey mate..i have the vostro 1700 and the m1530 is definitely better than the vostro...the only +ve factor about the vostro is its 17"..its heavy and th4e graphics card is the crippled version of the geforce 8600m gt...if i were in your place, i would choose the m1530..hope that it helps...

Thanks for the info. What configuration of the Dell m1530 would you recommend?. Also, is it worth getting the 3 yr warranty?.

    cheers,

im getting the t9300, 4gb ram, 320gigs hard drive and 8600mgt.. i cant afford the 3yr warranty...its out of my budget...if you can afford it, then i suggest you take it because you never know what can happen during these years of usage..personally i'm thinking about using mine for about 4years...

I have just tried using it on Dell UK website and it DOES work.It gives a 10% discount.Go to the Dell UK home section and apply it after adding the item to basket.

I think I know why it does not work.. that's because its in the home section..I went to the business section and tried to apply it..anyways the home section is still more expensive than the business section even with the applied coupon..haha!! that's ridiculous
