ok here is the last post i made in my win7 thread wich will sum up where i am at with my win7 installation on my m1710

now here is one thing that changed in i8k and that i cant understand in xp my temprature control setting in i8k where that i could set set the fans to either go off, low or high depending on the temp it was at now strangly its no longer off, low or high but numerical value at wich i can set it or basically value from 00 to i guess 99 but nomather what i set it to it does not seem to control the fan as it used to i have set my temp differencial in advanced option to the same as it was in xp

here are some screenshot of my i8k setting in win7

ok got i8k to work fine now that i figured what was wrong, i had enable hardware support wich does not work properly but i had no choice in order to get reading from the gpu, wich was not the case in xp, so i simply uncheck "enable hardware support" and now all seem to be fine

current idle temp with i8k in win7:
    cpu: 44c gpu: 56c

    much better

nb: it is definitly sad to see that dell did not make an effort into solving this problem with there laptop considering the price of such a machine, it is not normal, in my point of view, that a bios was not release with better temp management and thatuser have to rely on a software that was release 2.5 years ago.

anyway i doubt this comment will ever be taken into consideration, considering that i am not the first to live that disapointment and that this product is now oel
