I have just acquired a refurbished Dell XPS 15 L521X notebook PC with a standard 8X DVD +/-RW drive. I am interested in installing an internal Blu-ray/DVD combo drive and, based on limited information from this forum, I understand the Panasonic UJ267 Blu-ray read-write drive is compatible. Has anyone successfully installed a Panasonic UJ-267 Blu-ray drive in a XPS 15 L521X? Will simply following the instructions in the L521X owner's manual for replacing the optical drive work for the UJ267? I have seen several eBay vendors selling the bare Panasonic UJ267 without drivers or software. Any specific drivers or software needed to use the UJ267 once installed? Will Windows 7 recognize the UJ267 when installed?

Thanks for reading and any information.

I don't know about the driver situation, but replacing the drive should indeed be as described in the service manual. If it's a bare drive, you may also need to swap the drive bezel, etc.
