is it possible to add internal bluetooth? when building my 1640 i neglected to press that one button and spend another $20
edit: i'm guessing this is what i need http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...x?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=430-3313#Overview but can it be added easily and without voiding my warranty?

You can call in and see if they can add it to your order. If not, I'd wait till your laptop came in and open up the bottom and see what ports you have free. I believe this is the correct part:
http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=dell+bluetooth+370&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=
just look at those and if they fit, buy one from there. Inserting it shouldn't void any warranties. Get the driver from dell. -
i've already got the laptop, guess i'll open her up...anybody know exactly where this thing goes, i'm a little new with this

That'll help you out. Follow it, and don't be afraid to ask for help here.

That specific page is where you'll want to get two. Bluetooth should be the WPA card. -
thanks stacky, very helpful

I just got the 370. Your link looks like it's for specific Latitudes, but maybe that's OK for you I don't know. Weird they call it a 365 and in the description it's a 370...

Please let me know when you get it. I have xps13 thats suppose to use the same 370 bluetooth, I bought mine in bestbuy so i didnt have an option of bluetooth.
As for a place to plug it in dont worry about that I took my baby apart many times you deffinetly have a place to put int the slots and pci-e wire to connect the bluetooth card!!!
Just let us know how it went I also want to order from ebay but that lattitude thing throws me off
-
Wow, how incredibly helpful. Thanks!
-
alright, got the card installed, and the bluetooth light next to the wifi light is on, good news...but i still cant connect to anything do i need to download any drivers? if so which one?
edit: it wont let me allow bluetooth devices to find the computer, whenever i click that and hit apply it tells me that an error occurred while windows was saving your settings. the bluetooth device might be unplugged. the following were not saved: discoverability settings and connection settings
whats going on here?!?! -
well like you said. you need the bluetooth driver! go to support.dell.com under communications i think you'll find the bluetooth driver... this should resolve the issue... reply when ur done to let us know, also mind sending the ebay link? I want to buy one too

Is there a substantial difference between Dell's internal Bluetooth chipset and an external USB adapter like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833242001?
-
i tried a couple out but i guess i couldnt find the right one, any guidance as to what driver i need?
heres the listing http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160364199447&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:US:1123 -
the bluetooth driver provided by dell doesnt work on windows 7.
i dont know if there is any new driver on dell.com though.
im using windows 7 default for my bluetooth mouse -
Like the person above me said: It wont work on windows 7rc, not all drivers are updated yet for windows 7 and you should wait for official release of win7..
if your not using windows 7 then this is the correct driver:
http://support.dell.com/support/dow...-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=5&fileid=286034
the link is for windows vista 64-bit OS driver, if your using 32bit just do to support.dell.com drivers, network drivers, then you gona see the 370 driver (its pre-last one)
Pm me once you try on ur results -
you dont need driver for bluetooth to work.
click on bluetooth icon--open settings--allow other device to connect to this computer, or try "add a device".
i dont remember how i added my dell bt mouse to my computer, but it took me 10 mins to figure that out.
if the bluetooth device can be found on your computer, right click on that bt device--property. -
it wont allow devices to find the computer its saying the device might be unplugged
-
go into the setup program, or bios, and make sure bluetooth is enable...it might be disabled ..
-
already did that...just got it figured out, had to find another patch, here it is for anyone that might be doing this in the future http://support.dell.com/support/dow...eid=R159805&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=213714
edit: the official 370 driver is needed as well -
now another issue...everything was fine (bluetooth mouse and keyboard working) right after i installed the patch so i shut my laptop and went to bed, when i got up today i opened my notebook and it was doing the same thing, saying the device might be unplugged...i can reinstall the patch and it will work great til the computer powers off, why isn't the patch sticking?
