Seems that if it was it would be easy to fabricate a replacement piece with holds/vents for DIY or to have Dell swap in a new vent friendly design. I haven't got my xps 16 yet- Is the consensus that with undervolting and a pad its fine?
thanks

It is not removable, even if it was, there would be plastic or metal underneath it still blocking the vent.

Not removable.. at least not without major effort...

The leather is on teh back of the lid, so changing it wont affect air flow at all. If you wanted a DIY project, then you could maybe punch some holes in the bottom plate or drill some extra hole in the end cap.
is the leather piece on the xps 16 removable?
