is this the right driver for the m1530?

    i got it from http://support.dell.com/support/dow...-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=6&fileid=246509

which is the 174.31 driver, which should be ok for the m1530 with a 8600m gt?

but it dosent say its for the M1530 too, why not?

(i know its for vista, i was i on a xp laptop when i downloaded it, was just looking to see if it was ok)

i downloaded it from the m1330 section as it wasent in the m1530 section, they had some other random one.

also do i need to uninstall the old one, run in safe mode and do that other stuff or just the the dell aplication?

www.laptopvideo2go.com . Use the drivers from this website's forums. The latest ones are 177.39

But yes those drivers are safe. Nvidia has a unified driver system so it's the same drivers for everycards. Desktop or laptop. (although the file containing the supported cards needs to be modified)

i was looking to get one from laptopvideo to go (174.31 as its reliable) but this one looks simpler.

do i have to uninstall the older driver, then install the new driver like the Laptopvideo ones? or do i just run that program and job done??

    thanks

Try 177.32 or .35, they`re the newest and among the best.
Link in sig on how to update drivers safely.

I've got an M1530, and I'm using the 174.31 drivers that Dell has listed for the M1330. They work fine and are an improvement over the ancient drivers that the M1530 ships with. I uninstalled the previous drivers in safe mode before installing the new drivers. (Many people just install over the previous drivers.)

I'd recommend going with 174.31. For the 8600M GT on the M1530 they're the best performing, and seem to be very stable.

For me, the 174.16 drivers are the only ones that don't force 2D mode on battery.
