I think it is only like a $25-$50 upgrade, so I don't think it is that expensive an upgrade. I would would advise you just add it in anyway, because I would not guess that the sound would be any worse without it. I can't compare the sound quality of the XPS m1530 with or without the sound blaster technology, as I only have one of these machines, but honestly the sound is not that bad on the system. Don't worry very few people get systems with sound issues, so you'll be fine. I think it's an inexpensive/ probably worthy uprgrade though.

Not worth it. It came with my config, I actually think it sounds worse with the software installed!

My xps speakers are terrible. But with my 2.1 speakers and sub plugged into the headphone jack it sounds pretty much like my desktop. I would'nt bother

DON'T get it, its a gimmick. As said before all it is, is software! You probably could get it online if you searched for it. If you're wanting an audio upgrade that badly get the express card soundcard - but even then I really think the integrated solutions are good enough unless you're an audio engineer etc.

just software, not worth any money at all

how about spending it on a great pair of isolating earphones instead?
