Hi guys,
I tried a 720p video and it worked perfect as I expected but when I downloaded a Full HD 1080p video, playing using VLC It lags so bad, I can barely keep up and watch it properly.
My system is:
P8600 2400 MHz, RGBLED 1080.
4GB DDR3, ATi HD 3670.
If any more info needed please say.
Could someone try this file (Messi goal in UCL Final) and see if it lags as well.
also tell me what your specs are.
maybe Im expecting too much from this SXPS 1640?
But I hoped it can playback a full HD video fine.![]()
any suggestions?

Hmm 2.4ghz should be enough for full 1080p
I would go download CCCP (combined community codec package) install that and then try to play your file with the included media player classic. -
are you on high performance?

The CCCP is a good codec package, thanks for introducing it.
It certainly improved it because now it runs a lot smoother but video is too slow(lagging again) and the sound takes over the video.
maybe GPU/CPU is just not that good.
I will try tweaking few other stuff anybody else have any suggestions how I could fix that? -

something is amiss, your computer has the power for 1080p even my 2.4ghz AMD setup ran 1080p without an issue.
Do you have other stuff running that could be pegging your cpu or hard drive making it slow down? I would look at your resource monitor and see when your playign video what it says. See if CPU or HDD use is reaching 100% -
you definitely have a problem. perhaps your GPU is overheating? I find that when I play blu rays or even play games I have to allow air to get in the bottom.

my old 1.6ghz dell with integrated graphics runs 1080p video without a hitch..
-
I use cooler heat is not a problem.
the CPU usage jumps to 70% during video playback. There arent many programs using too much CPU, I even disabled Dell Dock but no difference.
Now funny thing is I go to Microsoft site and download some of their sample full HD videos and I can play them no lags or anything.
Could it be the extention of this particular file I posted on first post (*.ts)?
Have you guys tried playing that file see how your system performs with that?
I have a bad feeling the file wasnt encoded properly because I have only had problem with this ! -

I would try it but my laptop has a 2.7ghz quad core and dual hdds with 6gb of ram so I dont think it would be fair
If your cpu and hdd are not reaching 100% then for sure its a codec or file problem.
Well downloading it now anyways just to see if it is a bad video file. -

I think you were concerned with something that was not a problem all along
That video file is crud.
HORRIBLE interlacing, broken audio, plus the .TS extension was not recognized by default I had to force it to open so maybe it needs a special player/codec to properly play. -
.ts is mpeg2, with bitrates are going to be higher than standard h264. my old 1.6ghz has issues with them too. i'd avoid them unless your proc is powerful

Still that extension was not recognised by default so its odd, and it didnt play on my computer so I know its a not a matter of having enough power, its quite clearly a bad file.
its lagging when I play a full HD Video.
