    HI, i mean, i am nearly to get my xps l502x and i want to know is there are really necessary to do a fresh windows 7 install, or just to do the dell factory restore and unististall the innecessary programs.

    Necessary? Not at all. Recommended? People come down on both sides of the fence. I did the clean install, went from the 90+ processes running before even installing any apps, to just under 60 with all my apps installed. Boots a little faster, feels a little snappier, then I'm a bit of a "tinkerer" so I don't mind doing this stuff. If you've got the time and have downloaded all the drivers beforehand, IMHO it's worth the hour or two. It still performed well with factory config, I just prefer to start fresh...

    Of the new Dells I have purchases, I did not even consider a fresh install. Dells have some of the least bloatware compared to other manufacturers (HP has some of the worst/most bloatware). It really boils down to personal preference.
