i cant type on my laptop at all.. flat flex cable connecting to the power button was recently replaced, new one has a rip in the middle of one of the 12 pins connecting to the power button from the handrest/touchpad pinning on it. lcd been replaced recently. either the keyboard or motherboard is fried.external usb keyboard works but i cant stop the hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. any help thx.new lcd lg display wont recognize 1920 x 1200 resolution only smaller, coming from a different lcd display after breaking it, maybe driver update?

my bios has been modded, will i need to go to default bios to get the resolution to be recognized?
windows starts fine, but keyboard wont work, only external keyboard works, i might have fried my mb while replacing the lcd.

If the ribbon is damaged, then get it replaced. Why was the ribbon damaged in the first place? What caused it? If you are still under warranty, call up Dell and have them replace it again.

I don't think your motherboard is "fried" as you seem to be able to boot into Windows and use it just fine (except the keyboard). Also, a modded BIOS wouldn't have any effect on the resolution. The L502x doesn't have a 1920x1200 LCD display, unless you are talking about an external LCD monitor? What resolution are you maxed at? I believe there are only two panels that Dell provides for the L502x: 1920x1080 and 1366x768. It sounds like Dell replaced your old LCD with a newer lower resolution one.

my 1st ribbon cable was damaged from unplugging and plugging it in one too many times. i order one from singapore, took 2 weeks, new one was damaged from me not copying the exactly folding the way dell did it. im out of warranty, cs from dell are clueless what the ribbon cable are, talked to 4 cs, last guy finally told me they dont carry that part. lol. joke. i had to order from 3rd party.sorry i meant 1920 x 1080. i ordered this one on ebay. 100% its 1920 x 1080.
i can troubleshoot the resolution problem later, but im want to fix why my comp keeps typing hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh nonstop.
heard i might have to update driver for LG lcd, i had a different brand before.

Pulling the CMOS battery will definitely cause the date change. Those 8 beeps aren't a short, I think it means there's a problem with the LCD you installed: Computer POST and beep codes

As for the keyboard ribbon cable, you're on your own. If your cable is damaged like you said, it's probably the reason why your internal keyboard is doing that repeated "hhhhhhh" thing. Probably some sort of weird contact is going on and causing the keyboard to only register certain keys, etc.

If the panel is actually 1920x1080, Windows should automatically detect the resolution and let you set it. What is the max resolution you are able to run right now? It's possible it's just a driver issue, but if you already have the Nvidia driver installed, and you can't get a resolution higher than 1366x768, then you probably got ripped off by the seller.

Don't know if it will help you at all at this point, but here's the Dell disassemly guide: Documentation
Maybe there's some steps you might find; try retracing your tear down and see if you may have forgotten to re-insert some cable or something? You know how tear downs are: you completely and successfully take apart something, but after re-assembling it you always have 2 left over screws and can never figure out where they're from. Maybe this is just one of those times...

theres either something messed up about my motherboard or the flex cable. it does the hhhhhhhhh even when i unplug my internal keyboard. i downgraded to bios version 1.06, still frozen screen in the bios, also my battery light indicator is having problems turning on 85% of the time.(only one light indicator is on) how many are there supposed to be at the power button?) my lcd works fine before the downgrade, now my external keyboard doesnt work. internal keyboard havent been working from the get go.

i cant check resolution because i cant get pass the window startup boot screen without a working keyboard, internal nor external.
how important are those m3 screws beneath the battery pack? i only have 1 left grounding the power button.lost some installing liquid cooler, 2nd hd etc.

im starting to think i might be getting a short from the power jack mod i did 6 months back. i bend 4 pins inside the power jack so my power adapter would fit snug. gonna mess around it that tonight.
