Having some probs with my webcam and various versions of Dell Webcam Central - the latest version of DWC shows distinct vertical pinkish lines across the image and the previous version gets stuck in an infinite loop as soon as it launches.

Trying to troubleshoot this but can't for the life of me find the correct driver for this webcam. No webcam driver at all appears on the Dell driver site fro my lappy.

Is it bundled with the Nvidia drivers or the DWC app itself perhaps?

If not can someone point me at it pls (prob in front of my nose)?

    Thanks, M

thanks khan - but already been there.

Found a driver here (god only knows why one doesn't appear in my dell downloads):

    Drivers and Downloads

I've tried the version of Webcam Central in the link (2.35) and also 2.39 which is available through my dell support - both have the same problem for me, the moment you select HD resolution for video the app completely freezes and has to be terminated through task manager. Only seen one post here on this which related to using a larger text/icons on the desktop - however, mine is at native 100% so this not the cause.

I've also tried the newer 2.44 version through dell support page and this doesn't freeze on HD - however, in camera mode it has vertical pinkish lines across the image and in video mode their is a blue tint - not good!

Any other advice gratefully received - I know, just don't use HD video - but that was one of the things that attracted me in the first place.

Well Skype seems to be handling video OK (though no way to check resolution afaik) so I'm guessing that the hardware and driver are doing their jobs.

So prob just the Webcam Central software - does anybody know of any similar commercial / free apps out there I could try instead?

    Many thanks, M
