The most popular driver for 8600m gt is the 174.74 because it's stable in all ways. It gave me 22 fps increase in cs source

There is also a special way to install this 174.74 so read carefully

Well besides what drivers you would get from Nvidia or ATI, I don't know why you would want to get laptop2go drivers unless you needed them to help you with a troublesome game...

Because usually, LV2G drivers are much newer, and thus faster than the ones released by the manufacturers. You would never get drivers from nVidia or ATI as they don't support their mobile lineups.

Why don't you try 175.19? It has shader optimizations that help increase the performance of your card. Probably any driver after that (the 177.xx betas) should probably increase your card's performance.

Jstn7477 while I can't comment about the validity of your post, I found this hilarious:
"P3 1GHz Slot 1 Cu, 1GB PC800 RDRAM. At least it can max out HL2!"

ROFL Maybe that could max out HL, but not HL2 unless you are running 1 FPS. lol

i am using the 174.74 and so far found one slight bug with TF2 but other wise its running fine.... feels like a slight increase in FPS but then again maybe the new drivers are a big fat placebo?

the latter 175 and 177 series have a performance boost over the older drivers. Im testing out the 177 series right now gave me a 100 point boost in 3dmark06 over the old 174.74 drivers
