    hey guys

just double checking but when in a quite environment i can hear my new xps 15 whirring when im using it, its fairly faint but it is noticeable.

just wanted to confirm this is normal, i assume this is partially the hard drive as the indicator light does seem to flash all the time.

Not had a laptop since my macbook in 2006 so I'm not really used to them now, just my imac which is pretty much silent.

    thanks in advance.

Probably actually the fan running at a real low speed. That or the HDD as you suggest, but my bet's the fan.
With an OS, yea that HDD light will flash a lot, even under idle. Pretty normal.

Yeah you're probably not used to the fan noise if you're coming from Mac. If the HDD is louder than the fan under load... well that's not the norm.

i've heard the fan under load and its definitely allot quieter than that, really nice laptop. I decided i wanted a portable windows system and then i've got my imac for the desktop machine.
