The XPS will be more than adequate for what you want to do. I have no problems running WoW or any of the pretty new games. GTAIV, Call of Duty:Modern Warfare2, Batman: Arkham Asylam, all run very smoothly without any issues.

XPS is fine if you don't mind the mediocre GPU, though it's fine playing most games, just not at the highest setting and FPS.

Asus g73/g53 are great if you want a alienware-like rig.

For what your wanting to do, and the fact you did post on a dell dedicated forum, the XPS line is your best bet,
I have the L701x and both work fine, WOW and for me SCII works great on highest settings with no lag. the GPU gets crapped on but it's fine. believe me I know, I did enough research( see link)

I agree with above. I also have the L701x and it is fine for gaming on high settings just may struggle with max on some although I am yet to see any lag. If you can wait a while it may be worth seeing how the L702x pans out when others have received theirs as the prices look good.

If you want to hook up to a large screen TV like I do then maybe you don't need the 1080 screen and if you want a little more portability the new L502x might suit you.
