I got my XPS-M1330 last October, where my mainboard died after 1 week.
I got my mainboard replaced and everything worked well up untill last week.
i started to get corrupted video (red dots and lines in windows) which eventually lead to white screens and ASCI garbage while on the DELL bootscreen logo.

I've called XPS support and they dispatched a replacement mainboard, which was planned on being fitted today. When the engineer replaced the mainboard the system was dead. The replacement mainboard seemed to be defect as well.
Tomorrow they will dispatch a new mainboard and replacement processor. I really hope that is will do the trick. Though i am not confident that this will not happen again, probably while just being out of warranty after one year.

I am inclined to ask a replacement unit, as i don't know what is causing this i am not confident that it will not happen again. Should i ask Customer Care for a replacement unit? or did i just had bad luck...?

AND NO: There has been no OC'ing or performance tools being used on this system. just the normal Nvidia WHQL drivers without any tampering with RivaTuner etc....

Probably wouldn't hurt to ask that your machine be replaced. Does Dell allow an extenstion of the warranty prior to the original's end? If so, you might want to consider that, as well. Good luck with the repair.

Your machine is barely half a year old. I think asking for a replacement wouldn't be out of the question.

If the new mainboard and processor have issues then definitely take it up with customer care.

    How long is your warranty?

Ask for replacement system. If they dont' listen to you, google "Dell unresolved issues", and use the link.

The enginerer came today and the new mainboard didn't work either, it shortcicuited and burned a flatcable... I am getting a new system dispached once my old one has been collected.

One mor challenge though, i my current system did get a free Fingerprint reader and 160GB 7200rpm drive (which were both not on the order!) probably becasue of stock issues, however they are not sure that my replacement unit will be equiped with these 2 as well......

Could you not keep your current system till the replacement arrives and swap the drives and possibly the finger print scanner?
