    I recently upgraded my T5450 1.66 GHz to a Penryn T8300 2.40 GHz in my M1330.

Should I keep my older CPU in case I have to send it in for warranty work? Or can i safely sell it?

no it wont void you computers warranty, but if your computer fails for some other reason later, dell can use the new cpu as an excuse not to cover you, so i would recommend keeping the old processor just in case

Well if you need the performance go for it, how long until your warranty expires?

I've been very seriously considering exactly the same upgrade. How's it working for you? Temps? Battery life? CPU operational performance?

Also, where did you get the CPU? Newegg looked best when I was pricing these.

Temps and battery life are a bit better. (not a drastic difference as I was under-volting the T5450 already) Day-to-day use of notebook doesn't seem noticeably faster, but CPU intensive programs such as Photoshop and ConvertXtoDVD show quite a difference.

I got mine off e-bay for a lot less than newegg (although newegg seems to have a good price). I paid $197.50 USD including shipping.
