I tried to google it, then I went here and searched for the same thing but I didn't find my answer.

So does anyone know the actual response time of this screen? All I know is that it's supposed to be way worse than the CCFL LCD ones.

Thanks, I'm mostly interested in the Samsung one since Dell said it's probably what I'll get. Could I expect it to be around there, or are there LED screens with significantly less/more response time?

According to M1330 Owner's Manual, luminance and viewing angle differ between WLED and LCD...seems like refresh rate is still locked at 60Hz for either...

Yup, those are all the stats Dell want to publish. They seem pretty unwilling to display the response time, probably due to it being so much worse then the CCFL one.

I did however find the information on Samsungs homepage, their screens have 25ms as well.

(refresh rate and response time is not the same thing)

Not sure if there is that much response time diff or if it would even be noticeable...movies and games look just fine on the WLED in the Studio1735 compared with either a Latitude D620 or Inspiron 9400. Its the brightness and viewing angle that really make the significant difference for me. Hard to go back to using the old-school LCD after sitting in front of the WLED for a bit.

The LED vs CCFL is the backlighting method. Why should that impact refresh rates? I have three systems (MacBook Pros) with the LED backlights and prefer the LED backlights to CCFL. They will not fade over time and probably add 30 minutes to battery life. My XPS M1330 did not come with the LED backlight - I bought it at BestBuy so I couldn't configure it as an option.

Yet again, I'm not asking about refresh rates, only response time. LED standard seem to be 25ms at the moment (since both CMO and Samsung have 25ms), compared to 2-4ms on modern CCFL screens.

But I've heard that people don't seem to experience ghosting on LED screens even though they have tremendously slow response time, early LCD screens with response time of 25ms and more usually suffered from this. If you got any experience please share it.

Refresh rate is how many times the screen refresh over a certain period of time. Response time is usually measured by how long time it takes for one pixel to change from black to white and then back to black.

I do see a bit of ghosting when playing css and cod4, but that's the only time I've really noticed. I play with high sensitivity and whip around a lot so..

I asked my daughter on response time on her MacBook Pro with LED backlit screen vs using one of our desktops with a 20 inch Dell LCD screen and she said that she doesn't notice any differences.

Thanks for the responses everyone, I'm mostly worried about ghosting in movies since I don't play FPS games much, I'll probably try STALKER/Fallout 3 though.

I guess ghosting will be apparent as soon as a movie moves faster than a fast paced CoD4 game, so it shouldn't be that bad :).

@darkcond0, is it annoying and does it affect your playing in any way, or is it barely noticeable?

On a side note, I'm praying for the 8400M GS to be able to run SC2/Diablo 3.

I just compared a DVD between my MacBook Pro 17 and my desktop (24 inch Dell with CCFL technology) and didn't see any ghosting on either display.

My friends say that it's barely noticeable, but I'm picky. I haven't noticed much ghosting with movies. I'm really hoping it runs sc2/diablo 3 well too..
