I am looking to get a m1330 in the near future and am looking to avoid paying 1200+ on it. There have been recent deals that offer different specs on the laptop. my questions are:

    1) I play some light games (Civ IV, etc.) on my computer now and am not looking to get a computer for gaming, but would still like to be able to play some older games. I also plan to set up a second 22" monitor when I am at home so that I can do work and want to use that screen at its highest resolution. Do I need to get the 8300GS dedicated graphics card for the m1330 to do these things? Will Vista run smoother with a dedicated card, or would I be fine with the x3100 integrated graphics?

    2) What is the battery life difference on the LED vs LCD? I would like to avoid the 150 dollar expense if its only going to get me .3 lbs off the weight (unappreciable to me). Is the screen crisper with the LED? What else is the appeal of it?

    3) I was lightly considering the 4 cell and 9 cell battery package. Does the 4 cell even have the ability to power the laptop when using a dedicated graphics card?

Is the 2.4 Ghz 3 MB Cache processor significantly better than the 2.0 Ghz 2 MB Cache one? Will I notice the difference when using the computer for light gaming, and microsoft office type usage, including multitasking? (I will probably get the 4GB RAM since it is a free upgrade)

    Thanks alot.

the led runs with less energy and is crisper and a 4 cell should be able to run with a dedicated card just don't expect as good of a battery life

Take a look at my specs, I am thrilled with my laptop and I also have a 22" HP monitor which has a simply amazing display!

I also passed on the LED screen. I use my laptop mostly at home, with an external monitor, so spending the extra $$$ for the few times I'm out of town and not in front of my monitor didn't make much sense. Add to that the fact that the LED screen comes with a .3 camera instead of the 2MP camera the basic screen comes with, and it was a no brainer for my needs (by the way, the built in screen is excellent! Might not be as bright as the LED but it's very sharp, bright colors and blows away my previous HP dv2000s monitor!)

As for games, I don't play games much, but I wanted the dedicated graphics card so my ten year old son could play games. We've so far gotten the Orange Box, and ALL of the games play great on this system! Don't think I'll be playing Crysis soon, but I'm not really looking for a gaming rig.

Not sure how much you'll notice the speed difference between the two processors. I have 2Ghz and 4GB ram, and my laptop is VERY speedy... almost no waiting, esp. compared to my previous laptop.

Good luck, you're going to love the m1330!
