Hi all, I've been watching the threads and I haven't seen anything related to my issue but then again I could have missed it.

highest spec I could get: m1330, T7500, ssd, 2gb, 8600m, led, vista ultimate, etc.

In brief, the applications on my lovely m1330 simply stop responding in Vista for no commonly apparent reason. The lack of response can be upwards of 90 seconds and it's becoming intensely frustrating. They happen about 3 times per day for a duration of 90 seconds +.

The only obvious common factor is that the HDD light is on when this happens and it always comes back if I leave it alone for long enough.

I run an IT dept so I've done all the obvious tests to no avail. I've also de-cluttered the apps, ran all the 'make Vista faster' tweaks, disabled all the indexing, etc. etc. I'd thought I'd fixed it but the freezes came back today. It's driving me crazy?!?

Is anyone else having similar problems? Any pointers would be great (other than re-install Vista).

The first couple of days I had a few random freeze/lockups also. I ran a program which I often use and it said there were issues with Roxio. I reinstalled it and no problems since. Don't know if this is causing your problem or not.

I have this exact problem now after the technician replaced my motherboard for GPU RAM damage that was causing vertical lines, etc.

My XPS M1330 Vista-SP1 laptop is exhibiting this problem also. I haven't installed anything new (hardware or software) that would cause this. I haven't had time to investigate what it's cause could be. The computer is less than a year old. I'm tempted to get rid of Vista, install Linux, and also get a Mac*.

    * Installing Linux to simply get rid of Windows and getting Mac coz it has the stuff I need.
