i've had my 1330 since february and been 90% happy with it, but i just realised the mat****a dvd drive is region-locked and there is no firmware hack available for it.

can anyone provide a list of other compatible slot-loading dvd drives that i could replace the mat****a drive with? i hate region-locked drives more than anything in the world.

edit: wow. talk about an over-policed forum. the brand name is m-a-t-s-h-i-t-a, ok? no need to get all net-nanny up in my business.

AnyDVD is the cure for all your stress. Google it right now, download the version of your choice.

It is incredibly smooth and lightweight, all of sudden your DVD's are cool again.

Imports work immediately, and you can skip those stupid FBI/Copyright warnings.

Firmware is not the solution, AnyDVD is the way to go!

FYI: That's actually got nothing to do with the forum moderators/admins.
    It's a VBulletin (forum software) problem ;)

As for the the region-lock problem: AnyDVD HD is the daddy, for sure... but DVD Region+CSS Free is another option:

My M1330 has the GSA-S10N drive in it. Can I use AnyDVD? Thanks.

I believe 'GSA' means it's a LG, so it should work OK ;)
The only way to confirm it for sure, it to download/try it.
