At this point ive pretty much pulled out all of the battery-saving stops. I use vista battery saver, rmclock, and drop the display brightness all the way down. At best, with the display going on and off through normal use, I get about 2.5hours of battery life. This is pretty **** poor if you ask me. I would get 11 hours with my old inspiron 8600, why is dell not focusing on battery life like they used to?? Is anyone else as dissatisfied with the battery life on this thing? I am honestly at the point of just wanting to sell this thing, whats the use of a laptop that you have to keep plugged in...

Oh yeah, im running vista 64.
    4gb ddr2
    gf8600
    sg momentus 320 7200
    1920x1200 screen

I plan on installing xp on another hdd to test if its just vista sucking up all the juice or what.

How the hell did you get 11 hours on a standard battery on the 8600?

I have the 1530 with the 8600GT card and when i am on battery use with power save mode on and the light dimmed down all the way i can get a max of 4 hours from my 6 cell when doing normal use things like internet exploring, i havent tried it when doing more intensive things like gaming but i know itd be much lower especially with the video card running. I have the LED backlit screen tho too and ive heard that saves some battery life, but would it really add an extra hour and a half? like i said the max ive seen on a full charge was 4 hours usually its between 3.5 and 4 and thats everything on its lowest setting.
