I figured this would be a cool thread to start, for comparisons.

    I got the 2.4ghz, 8600gt, samsung 320gb drive, wuxga display, 4gbddr2 667, running vista 64 sp1, no flashcache;

    geekbench: 2700
    pcmark05: 5700
    3dmark06: 3900 stock, 5000 overclocked gpu

geekbench in osx 32bit: 3200 (way to go MS)

I am extremely pleased, especially since dell is no sending me a 7200rpm 320gb seagate to replace this terrible samsung drive, and my scores should go up even more. My amd 64 desktop with a 7950gt gets 6000 in 3dmark06 and pcmark05 so this is close enough to be my desktop replacement, sweet!

One question; what processor do you have in your desktop because your probably getting some added points from the cpu difference.

I think you should use some games to benchmark using frames; that will be the real test of how much of a replacement your M1530 will be.

already done, the framerate is lower, but not crazy lower. I was more looking for overall perf anyway, not just gaming perf.

As far as I know, yes. I just installed it then ran it after restarting. Whatever drivers were the ones that Dell installed at the factory.

I ran it a second time to make sure it wasn't a fluke and I got 4721.

    Here are mine

    3DMark06
3903 - 153.XXX (when i replaced stock drivers with these)
    4117 - 174.31 stock
    4522 - 174.31 Clock changed to 500/902
    5156 - 174.31 Clock changed to 601/902
    5289 - 174.31 Clock changed to 625/902

I wanted this machine stable so I went back to 601/902 because the difference wasn't that great between the two.

BTW - 174.31 and 153.XX are driver numbers
