Today at 1:43 am, i hit refresh on DHL's tracking site, and whadya know? the driver decided to drive overnight from nevada to south san francisco. arrived at So.S.F. at 7:34 am, and i decided to camp out at the delivery address for a few hours.
Saw a fedex truck, then a ups, then another fedex...NO DHL?!
30 min later the man in yellow arrived with my laptop !
Will post pics later. btw only comsetic defects found so far is a .2 cm gap between the barrel hinge and the main chasis. i can see a little bit of wires, dont know if thats an issue, opinions?
-
-
No wires should be showing. It is an issue, and I would ask for a new replacement (wait time again) or a technician, unless you're fine with it.
-
But...arrrrr..wires showing...that's not a good thing....I would not be happy.
A lappy is not supposed to show *wires*No matter how small it is.
You need to think this over carefully about what you want to do....
Technician vs. replacement....and remember, the clock starts ticking (for returns) when you are invoiced for the 1530)
Cin -
What accessories did you get?
-
DAMIT man....the wires arent poking out but i can see them leading from the speaker to the barrel hinge. the only accessories i got were the remote. no earbuds or leather cd case but im fine w/o it.
-
Ok...look that baby over with *fine tooth comb* and take pictures of the imperfections...Call Dell and ask them what they are going to do...it will either be the techician or replacement...
I'm sorry you are finding these things.....But if you can find, if there is anything else wrong ~ it will help once you call Dell.

. Nothing of this sort should be showing up in Dell's premium quality notebook. But alas, we live in an imperfect world.
Just out of curiosity, did you get the notebook sleeve? Or was the notebook wrapped within a plastic bag? -
Yeah I will be fine with my remote too if I get it and then there is the $75 gift card I was already promised would be emailed as soon as my computer is shipped.
-
oh no, sorry to hear of that gap, hopefully you'll get it fixed without any issues.
-
mine was wrapped in a fancy plastic bag, i tried to argue through 3 reps and all said no. as of now i could care less about a stupid sleeve that doesnt even have handles. i want my laptop fixed, everything else seems fine, the brushed aluminum is flush with the plastic part of the laptop, keys are perfect, just that dam wire i can see
-
Let us know what you decide to do....is it worth it for you, for the tech to come and fix? I had a tech. come to my house at my convenience, and replace my motherboard...
He did a really good job..I dunno know if that helps you or not. But he took great care with my 1530...and showed me some stuff I didn't even know about.:
Cin -
id prefer them to come here and fix my screen, ive paid too much and waited enough to have to return this one and get a "replacement".
-
They have to send the part that's going to be replaced to the technician.
Turn around is usually w/in 24-48 hours. -
if u want a replacement. they will actually send out the replacement unit while u keep on usin yur current one. then u just place yur current one in the box the replacement came. they also provide a free shippin label and DHL can pick it up without u even bein there.
good luck with whichever decision u choose. -
Here are pics for my defect lol:

I guess I am easy, that wouldn't even bother me and if it did I am type I would just try and fix it myself. I imagined it being much worse when you described it.
-
i would rather not void my warranty, esp since if i tried i would have no idea what i would be doing
-
ok so tech support said they would send someone to replace the front bezel, btw the power button is supposed to be soft right? like when u press it it doesn't "click" correct?
-
Does opening the case on your laptop void your warranty?
-
-
can you buy the warranty back?
