    hi all.
i have an m1530 (about a year old).

everytime i start a newly-installed full-screen game, it will minimise to the desktop immediately after the game goes to full screen.
the game keeps running (i.e. i can hear its sounds).
but when i switch to it by clicking on its taskbar item, it'll return back to the desktop a second after it returns to full-screen.
i see the game's intro movie or main menu for a split second before it returns to the desktop.
the game doesn't crash because music from it still plays.
i simply just can't get its resolution to stick.
i got lucky in the past that some games (Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich) that used to minimise itself stops doing so.
but recently, i can't play my newly installed Dungeons and Dragons online game because of this problem.

i've search the internet but have not found a satisfactory solution:
    1. add the program manually to the nvidia program settings tab.
but i read that the newer nvidia program control panel has a bug that users can't add programs manually.
    2. a microsoft technote about the OS resetting 3d mode when FPS goes below 2 fps. microsoft suggests turning this off but the suggested regedit location doesn't exist in my system.

has anyone else experienced this issue?

    my system:
m1530 with bios and gpu drivers from dell up-to-date,
    vista ultimate
    pretty much factory-default system

    thanks for any replies.

Well, you could try using a more up-to-date display driver. Dell has the 176.44 driver on the M1530 driver support page. This is very old to say the least.

Try the NVIDIA 186.81 driver which was posted on 8/27/2009.

    32-bit Vista:

    64-bit Vista:

Also if you are familiar with using a modified INF file with your display driver you can also give one of the latest a try over @ laptopvideo2go. If you are not familiar with using the LV2Go drivers, stick with the NVIDIA official release.
