I am going to be recording some poetry tomorrow (with some new equipment) and i'd like to record it directly to my laptop for editing via the mic/line in (as it says in the manual/specs). It needs to be stereo as the product will be compiled into a CD.
However, when i tested it (plugged in my mp3 player and recorded in sound forge), only one channel was recording, there was no audio input to the second channel.
Can anyone help? thx

The jack is stereo, when you plug in a jack you should choose (in the Sigmatel driver's menu) the Line In option, not de microphone. Then you should have stereo imput.

Updated the sigmatel audio drivers from dell (service tag) and now the option comes up to select line in.
However, it still records only the left channel. -
Usually it detects a jack plugged into the line/mic minijack and a software applet opens to ask you which of the functions you want to use.

Yes, the applet comes up and I can select line in but I can only record one channel.
