    Hello everyone,

I'm running a dual boot on my m1530 with Vista and XP. I used a link I found on these forums to find the XP drivers, put them on the disc, and install them that way. I tried to find the link again, but I cant. Anyways, the problem is that when I close the laptop lid in XP (the problem does not occur in Vista) the screen goes black (maybe into hibernation?) and I have to hold the power button down to shut down the computer and restart it. I've tried fooling around with settings and that doesnt help. Maybe it's a driver issue? Can some one lead me to the correct driver...or tell me what else may resolve the problem? Thanks!

Did you install SP3? It created such a problem on my old Inspiron.

...I don't think I've installed SP3 but I'm not postive, how do I check? This problem has occured since I first installed XP and the disc I used did not include SP3. (I don't think it even included SP2 but again I'm not sure)

Well if you've run Windows Update on it you probably have Service Pack 3. You can check for it in Add or Remove Programs. When I'm done using my laptop I just close the lid, plugged into power. When I need to re-use it I just open it and I'm ready to go, no wait for boot up. SP3 for XP absolutely killed this, removed it via Add or Remove Programs and all is well.

I did have SP3 but I removed it last night and it did not fix the problem. Any other ideas?
