I am probably going to order an m1530 really soon. I have this configured so far:

    http://configure.us.dell.com/dellst...m=ecomm2.dell.com&c=us&l=en&cs=2236&pg=review

If the link doesn't work then its a T8300 processor, 1440x900 screen, 8600M GT, 4 gb ram, a 9 cell and 3 yrs of warranty. My price with member discount is $1470 atm. This is only 8% because I am at base $1598 and the 12% is at 1600.

I am going to add either the LED screen upgrade for $150 or the 4th year of warranty for $80 (with the $70 gift card that comes with it). Adding the LED display raises the price to around $1538 (only $68 total increased), while adding the warranty only makes the price $1478 (basically free, plus the gift card).

I'm wondering what you think would be most worth the upgrade? I have no idea what I would use the gift card on, although I could buy a printer later or something maybe. I've heard good things about the LED, including improved brightness, weight, and battery life. Is this accurate and more worth the $70 savings than the 1 extra year of warranty? If I have 3 already, do I need the 4th year at ALL? Thanks!

Will you still be using this laptop in 4years time? or will you have upgraded to something new.

If no, buy the LED screen

LED screen. I am the kind of person who upgrades my notebook/desktops every three years. Usually that's about two or more generations of technology (Intel, Motherboards, GPUs) that have improved. And by then it's time to upgrade.

you can get all that except a three year warranty and the LED for $1299 if you just reigster yourself to a university and get a discount at delluniversity.com (you don't actually have to be a college student)

Hmmm. I don't have the LED screen..on my 1530..but would love one..

So given the choice now, I would go with the LED screen ;) :)

But, like the OP stated, it depends on your needs, and how long you plan on keeping your laptop for

    That's just my opinion. ;) :)

this one comes with 3 yr warranty WITH accidental damage..... are u paying with Amex or other credit card? some (especialyl amex) double ur warranty up to an extra year, but read the terms carefulyl to see if you apply (but then you wont get the accidental damage for 4th year

$80 minus 12% off is like $72 plus tax, minus a $70 gift card is like $5..... oh well

i dont think LED is that worth it.... its up to you though

Yea I know the 4th year is like free, but I have no idea what I would spend the $70 on. Maybe an auto/air/ac adapter or something. I'll be paying with credit card, just Visa. IDK if it will double my warranty, I doubt it.

I think you will be better off with the LED screen than a four year warranty. Three years is plenty good, by then you'll be tired of it.
