    Does the current M1710 have a SPDIF output?? Some reviews say yes and others no.

    what is a spdif output, I have the m1710 so... I can check, but I'm not really sure.

    in other words, you need a rca-toslink optical adapter

    The M1710 comes with a slitter that goes into the s-video output and outputs component video as well as SPDIF audio.
