It's good, but honestly I'd shell out $500 more and get an m17x from the outlet.

Thats a pretty darn good deal, especially with the 9800GT. But consider something else as that hardware is getting old(kinda) *cough*m17x*cough*

A lot of Dell laptops have power and heat related throttling issues. Before buying anything used, it would be a good idea to check out any forum dedicated to the M1730 and ask some questions.

Since you have access to the laptop, you should run your own tests. Play a demanding game on it and run ThrottleStop with the Log File option checked so it can monitor the performance of your CPU. Post the log file or send it my way if you're not sure how to read it. You can upload it to Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire or anywhere convenient. Some Dells can throttle down to a small fraction of their rated speed when gaming. The specs don't mean anything if the CPU or GPU or both are being throttled to 25% of their rated speed.

Why was the motherboard and GPU recently replaced?
