    I have a xps m1530 , core 2 duo T5550, 3gbram, 160 hdd, 8600gt 256mb.
My laptop shuts down when I play games if it isn't connected to the charging adaptor. I played nfs undercover and just when loading the game the computer shuts down. I plugged the charger and, now, I can play fine, but if I remove the charger , still in the game, after a few secounds the computer shouts down.
    What should be the problem?

How old is the computer? It could be that your battery is getting too weak and needs to be replaced. Also, the fact that you are playing a graphics intense game could be draining your battery faster than normal. Try a different game, an older game, and see if it does the same thing.

And what I mean by older is a game like Starcraft or WarCraft III. Somewhere along the lines of that.

my comp is not that old, 5 months, or so, and the battery is fully charged. And it hass a stand-by when watching a movie around 2h or more, not fully tested.

hmm do you get a BSOD(blue screen of death) before it shuts down?

If not when you are playing a game is it in balanced or power saver? If so thats probably the reason a game thats demanding like that would probably use to much power on battery so you should keep it in "High performance" mode when you go on battery.
