I've had my m1530 for ~ 6 months now. I love the build quality of this laptop and the general versatility. Plenty of power, good battery life, and beautiful screen. I have two issues that have been my biggest complaints…

    1) Touchpad jumping – I’ve had this since day #1. It happens randomly and at inconvenient times. I read about a lot of other people having similar problems when I got my laptop and tried other drivers with no real difference.
    2) Keyboard – Almost as random as the touchpad problem is an issue with the keyboard. Occasionally the keyboard will require VERY HARD pressure for the laptop to recognize my keystrokes. A reboot will typically take care of this but it is very annoying when it occurs.

Has anyone found a solution or recommendation for either of these problems? I skimmed through the official m1530 threads and did some searching but didn’t find anything. I have ~ 5 months left to my outlet warranty so maybe I’ll call Dell and see if I can get a repair. My LED screen also has a small strange bright spot in the lower left corner so maybe they can do something about that as well.

Download the touchpad driver on the dell website. That fixed it for me.

    Get a replacement keyboard?

The latest BIOS fixed a lot of the touchpad problems.

I'm running the latest drivers on dell's website (and I have some other Alps drivers posted on here that didn't work any better).

I'm also running the latest bios that I've found... A12 (came from Dell).

    Any other ideas?

Uninstall all touchpad drivers and use default windows ones.

My touchpad has been replaced 4 times on my M1530 and all 4 of them had this issue. This is an extremely common issue with the M1530. It is rather annoying.

Does replacing the touchpad "ever" fix the issue or is it a futile effort? If so I better start calling Dell...
