With my Alienware laptops, I use HW Info to adjust the fan speeds with great success. With the XPS 13, the only fan options are 0, 2500, 4900 rpm (off, medium, high). This gives a "all or nothing" auditory performance. The HW Info fan control also gets overridden, after about 3-5 seconds, after initiating an alternate fan profile. Additionally, The fan kicks on to the 2500 rpm speed when temps are down in the 40 - 45 Celsius zone (intermediately). I got over the grainy screen (on whites/grey backgrounds) and the touchpad's lack of multi-gesture support. Anyone have a clue on how to tame this fan issue?
