Since Nvidia mentioning that some of their mobile GPU's might fail, and Dell releasing a BIOS update to address it, my question is.....

Do future builds of the XPS solve the problem with the bad Nvidia chips? I'm considering placing an order for a XPS M1330 with a 8400M GT in it. Will this new build be with the defective GPU???

    thanks

That is the million dollar question right now. So far there are only rumors, speculation and a few statements by dell reps that don't hold much weight.

i ordered a hard drivereplacement yesterday and i asked about the dell blog that states dell is extending warrantly and he told me that doesnt apply to me... cause recieved my laptop this august and that new laptops have no such an issue that warrantly is for older m1530 system.... he even took control of my screen and read it from my screen... and he researched in their database.... this is the first time i trust one of this guys... i mean i believed him... he was confident sincere and direct with the information... no like another representativas that dont know about anything else but sales, or tell you that bios update is the fix...!

Hmm, you might as well buy it now if you still want the XPS. It's gonna disappear into a sublineage and its quality and performance will be gone, forever. Haha. If I had a good deal on it, I'd just go for it nevermind the GPU problem. Although, I did have my eye on Lenovos and Sagers before I committed to the XPS M1530. Just do it. -Nike

Don't forget the rumoured Montevina refresh coming to the M1530 at the end of the month. To be honest the rumour doesn't hold much water because it also stated that they would discontinue it in October. It doesn't make any business sense to do a major overhaul of a system only for 2 months worth of sale.
