    I know the safest place to buy it would be dell, but it's expensive. anyone have any experience with other sellers?

    9 cell preferable

    I got a Chinese knockoff 9-cell for my Studio 15 for $60. It works just as well as I would expect, giving me just slightly under 5 hours on power saver mode, with the ATi dedicated graphics, 1/2 screen brightness, and backlit keyboard on. For comparison, the official OEM Dell 6-cell that the system came with gives me between 2 and 3 on those same settings.

    Also, there's a guy in the Marketplace here on NBR who's been trying to sell off an M1530 9-cell for quite some time, going for $95 right now, supposedly in full health with money back guarantee if for some reason it doesn't suit you:
