It seems the stuttering issues are more prevalent on the RGBLED than on the others, so that is probably why Dell is stopping it.

FWIW, my friend has the RGBLED while I have the regular WLED, and I am satisfied with the WLED, though I primarily use external monitors, anyway.

I would probably take an upgraded processor rather than memory, as memory SHOULD come down in price at some point and is easily replaceable, while the processor is not something you want to upgrade while under warranty (and costs hundreds of dollars).

However, if the processor upgrade they offer is just a few hundred Mhz faster but is the same line and same number of cores, and the memory upgrade offered is from 4 GB to 8 GB and you do serious work with your laptop, then I would probably go for the RAM upgrade as that will probably make the biggest difference and you'll save yourself on having to upgrade it later.

I'm in the same situation phoneli0, I'm not accepting just a processor upgrade. The representative is very firm on only giving me only 1 upgrade, but I am also staying firm. I'm pushing for a 720qm to 820qm upgrade, a 4670 to 5730 upgrade (which comes standard in the 1645 now) and maybe even a HDD or memory upgrade.

I know the RGBLED cost isn't comparable to all of these in total, but the 2 months of warranty and trouble they put me through stood as a good argument.

So far he said the 720 to 820 and 4670 to 5730 is possible, still pushing for the others.

RGB is still available in NZ and Australia with 5730 the only option for 1645, no 1647
