just a heads up that the nvidia drivers has now left beta and an official release at 295.73 is now available on the What's New - GeForce site![]()

Anything different from the last BETA?
-
Any noticeable improvements to BF3, even if it's a small frame rate increase? I'm hoping they've eliminated the scope stuttering on maps such as Metro.
-
Has anyone tryed this new drivers ? Are they good ?
-
Can anyone confirm these drivers working alright with the programs that had issues with the latest BETA release (295.51)? Skype and Skyrim are the main two I'm aware of, Skype had a workaround but as far as I know Skyrim didn't...
Edit: Lol. Guess I should've read the headline on the GeForce site before I asked...will download and confirm if it's true. -

I installed the drivers this morning. They work fine, Skyrim seems to run a little faster. Sorry guys, I don't check FPS and that sort of thing, the game runs great and looks a little better. SWTOR works fine. My normal idle GPU temps were between 39c-41c. Now they are between 41c-43c. Skyrim still pushes the GPU to about 70c-72c with my card overclocked using MSI afterburner.

I installed them and installed Nvidia Update service, simply in hopes that then I would be able to disable and uninstall Nvidia Update service and that would remove the UpdatusUser user account and folder, as some on-line sources said it would.
Unfortunately it did not work. I uninstalled Nvidia Update, but it did not remove the UpdatusUser user account.
It's ridiculous that Nvidia creates a new Windows user account, without permission, to manage its updater. There is all kinds of negative discussion about it on-line, but no one has a consistently reliable method for disabling and removing it. -
I don't use any update service unless I don't have a choice because of the problems you sited. I just save to my harddrive and install. I was wrong about my GPU idle temps, they are back to 39c-41c. New drivers seem to be fine.
-
I agree with you. However, I had never installed Nvidia Update, yet at some point a new driver installation created that Windows user account anyway. That's one of the things that people are complaining about, that even some of those who did not install Nvidia Update have the extra crap anyway.
I only installed Nvidia Update this time because some users reported that if you install it, then uninstalling it should remove the unwanted user account. In my case, that did not work. -
i Installed the 295 drivers and skyrim has no performance increase from the tests i done or very little, like 1-2 fps more maybe.
-
I actually think that these drivers are more stable than the Beta versions as they use to down clock my GPU when OC but not any more
-
Ok now I can start Skype without using compability mode so that is ok, BUT... I still see the web cam test thing divided into 3 parts, so weird.
-
when I tried to Install it says your graphics card is not supported what to do
tired of these messages in just 14 days should I reinstall windows
EDIT: Got it installed don't know how -

Make sure your downloading the laptop driver, easy to miss it and get the desktop by mistake..

I found that my problem was related to the driver for the Intel graphics supplied as an optional driver through Windows Update. After I installed that, ALL of the Nvidia drivers gave me the "no compatible hardware" error. I uninstalled (and check the delete driver box) the driver and restarted. Windows will default back to a clunky VGA driver at that point. Then, go to Dell and get their driver for the intel graphics. After that, I was able to upgrade the Nvidia driver to my choice (currently the 295.73 which seems fine). As mentioned, be sure you're getting the mobile/laptop drivers too as the desktop ones won't install regardless of what you do.
-
I don't like this driver , it lowered my 3DMark06 score.
-
Oh man, yes, of course you're right. Thx.

I'm still testing things to be sure, but after updating to the latest drivers, the first attempt to install hung up, and after trying again, doing a custom, clean install, I'm randomly having problems where programs will not launch and the desktop window manager freezes up, I get the spinning circle and my computer becomes totally unresponsive, my only option is to hold in the power button. I did update to latest avast 7 last night as well, so I'm not sure what the culprit is. I'm back to the most recent betas that gave me no problems at all. I am using a modified bios with undervolted .85v to my video card, but have been using that for a while without issues. Possibly something changed with these drivers that might conflict with the undervolted settings, but if it worked in games with the beta drivers, I don't think the bios would be the issue. If I still have trouble using beta drivers I'll uninstall avast 7 and see.
Update: my issues seem to be due to "GPU Accelerated Canvas 2D" flag in chrome, I disabled it and have had zero problems. -
I had difficulties installing the drivers, but figured out why on the third attempt. I had disabled the Intel driver's hotkeys and the NVidia driver was using the presence of the hotkeys in its validation check.
nvidia 295.73 whql drivers now online
