Hmm, after the update my Skype stopped working, showing that is corrupted and nothing solved the problem.

I had to use system recover to bring things back the way they were.

    Problem solved.

I think after the update something corrupted my Skyrim installation...I'm getting "code 51" errors through Steam when trying to launch the game :/ Otherwise I'm not having any trouble.

my skyrim works fine here i was even able to lower my clock speeds as it ran alot better than it did with the older drivers even with a lower clock speed now, have you installed any of the new beta updates for skyrim recently as that may be your problem

Ah that's interesting, nope I didn't do anything with updates to Skyrim...I was reading around other forums and people were saying even reinstalling the game wouldn't make a difference for them, hmm...

maybe steam installed your updates automatically as far as im aware there has been 2 or 3 beta updates for skyrim in the past week but i refuse 2 use steam so i avent used the latest updates for that game so that could be the issue wif the latest patches

    Same here.

After installing to this beta Skype would not work, rolled back to previous drivers, Skype worked again.

I don't think so...but when I try to run Skype too I also get an error saying the executable is corrupted, along with Skyrim not working. Very strange how a graphics card update causes such issues.

yeah was jus about to say that to try going into the 3d settings and setting skype to use the intel integrated graphics instead and see if it runs ok then, one thing i always do aswell when installing new graphics drivers, is use a driver cleaner and remove all of the old drivers 1st and then when installing the new driver i select custom installation and tick the box to remove any old drivers that may still be left this way there is no old drivers to cause conflicts with your new 1s give it a try

I tried using it only with intel gpu but still came up saying that the skype executable is corrupt. There was no fix for it but rolling back the drivers.

Why can't you install Skyrim from the disk instead of it forcing you to download it? Sorry all, just venting.

Yeah I understand this is annoying. Well I'm at the university and my disk is at home, this is essentially my only choice. It's almost done though. But at least I know it'll work again on the 290.53 driver.

mmm, skype, skyrim... it seems there are not many positive about those new drivers, or maybe the ppl who installed them without issues is just quiet, well my current 290.53 drivers works fine without major issues for the moment, so I will stay until I see some positive comments from new ones.

i tried to replicate the problems with skype that some users are having,

i didnt have skype so i installed it just to check and can confirm the error does exist

i fixed this problem simply however by right clicking on it selecting properties then compatibility and then change the setting to windows 7, and then it starts perfect, maybe this will also work for those having the problems with skyrim give it a go and report back

It's sad that about everytime we update a driver it screws something else up. It gets old. I can't remember the last time that things were installed successful without something else messing up.

Better just to stick with what you have then updating, the problems some are experiencing, including me, may have a work around but it's not worth it.

Um, they may be labelled as "Beta" drivers for a reason.

There are some people who are keen to upgrade to the latest drivers, whether beta or not. If you're more concerned with stability and reliability of your system, and don't want to waste time troubleshooting issues, stick with full releases. Some long-time owners in this forum would go even further and advise that you install only official Dell-approved drivers from Dell's download site.

You should never use the rolback feature for nvidia drivers, nvidia have confirmed it doesn't restore all the files properly and you could easily have problems later with conflicting files.

Installed this new Beta driver , Skype worked fine however a new problem occurred.

When closing the lid the laptop would make a sound ( windows hardware connecting/disconnecting). and when I opened the screen the screen would take a while to turn one plus make the sound again.

Reverted back to the old driver and everything seems to work fine now.

I installed them on my 15z and they seem to work well. Can't really tell if it made any difference. The icon in the tray constantly seems to flash when the card is not in use.

Seems that you probobably have a program that is monitoring the GPU (Whether temperatures, clock speed, etc.)

You are all going to think I am crazy but such is life. I reinstalled 290.53 after Skyrim stopped working. Now the left mouse button is the right mouse button and the right mouse button is the left. I am truly stumped. This only occurs in Skyrim. All settings in Skyrim have been checked and rechecked. All mouse and touch pad settings have been checked and rechecked. Any suggestions?

    Thx, Rob

Just the stock one that tells you if the GPU is running or not. It stays colored when its on and discolored when its off.

I am glad none of you answered me. I guess the issues I created by trying this driver frustrated me more than I thought. Just needed to reassign the buttons like I did when I first installed the game.

The workaround for Skype working with this drivers version is to right click on Skype icon and in compatibility set it to Windows 7 and enjoy your Skype =)

I keep trying to DL skype from the website and it says its corrupt when I try and install it... Could it be this driver? I really doubt it, but thats weird... I tried downloading it a few times and kept un-installing when it said that.

Sometimes I might use beta software but usually only if it is portable software that does not have to be installed. I will never install anything beta when it comes to drivers. I believe this will be fixed when these drivers go final. I hope so as I use Skype.

Has anyone tried 3d content? I am using the Nvidia 3d picture viewer and I get a big red box that says "This is beta software not intended to be sold, etc... " Its pretty annoying.

On a sidenote, does anyone have a link to the "best" drivers that are not in beta? The website is saying that 285.62 is the current best for the 525m but I read a few posts back that 290.xx was working well for someone...

3D works great with the updated drivers. I used the Nvidia update utility and when asked I selected "regular and beta" and the update was flawless.
