    hi,
i got motherboard replaced due to nvidia issue yesterday.all issues(lines during startup, during normal usage) are solved except the horizontal white screens during shutting down linux mint 7 KDE. does it have to do with GPU hardware or is it because of driver problem (version 180 ).

does nvidia linux graphics driver have problems??it is after installing linuxmint KDE i experienced GPU issue.i feel like GPU is stressed and heated up much than in windows (i didnt enable compiz).

does new motherboard replacement is free from nvidia issue?.

I'm not quite sure what laptop we're talking about here nor am I sure I understood everything you said but I haven't had more problems with the Linux Nvidia drivers than I have with Windows. My laptop in a low-power mode in Linux gets warmer than it does in the "Power saver" mode in Windows but due to worse power management presence in Linux compared to Windows as opposed to the Nvidia drivers themselves.
